Everything You Need To Know About Apple Vision Pro

2Apple again leads the way in digital transformation in an age where technology drives our lives. The Apple Vision Pro is the latest innovation in a long line. This article is your complete guide to understanding and using the Apple Vision Pro, a quantum leap in personal technology.

The Apple Vision Pro’s elegant appearance and innovative features reflect Apple’s dedication to pushing the limits. The combination of advanced engineering and user-centric design makes it an experience, statement, and work of art. Vision Pro inspires and empowers techies, creatives, and luxury lovers.

What Is The Vision Pro?

It’s a sophisticated computer that attaches to your skull. It’s primarily virtual reality, but Apple wants the computer to engulf your surroundings.

Vision Pro

Apple imagines you’ll use this goggle-like device to view videos or work on a clear computer screen. Wearing the Vision Pro makes app icons glide in the room.

Apple Vision Pro: Design

Apple has maintained its sophisticated but attractive style that customers enjoy. The Vision Pro’s appearance and quality come from glass, steel, fabric, and other components.

A polished lens comprised of three-dimensionally manufactured and bonded glass covers the headset’s front. This connects the headset’s cameras and sensors to reality. The glass is attached to a bespoke aluminum alloy frame that comfortably wraps around the face.

This frame features a button on top and a crown on the right for immersion. Vision Pro, like other headsets, is modular for a specific fit.

The Vision Pro’s right-side click-like casing allows this. The aluminum frame has air intake vents to make the Pro headset even more comfy.

The single-piece 3D knitted headband is claimed to be pleasant, breathable, and flexible. Combined with the balanced design, the Vision Pro should be a pleasant headset.

Finally, the Apple Vision Pro’s bottom left slot holds the headset’s power pack. It seems like the battery pack is linked via a cable that clicks on the headset with light.

Apple Vision Pro: Specs

The goggles are about six inches wide, nearly four inches deep from the Light Seal to the front of the glass, and about four inches tall.

Weight is perhaps the most essential requirement. Vision Pro weighs 1.3 to 1.4 lbs, or 600 to 650g, depending on the bands. We kept the external battery in the pocket, on the table, or the sofa next to us. It weighs a little over three-quarters of a pound, or 350g. Thank god Apple didn’t include a battery in its debut mixed-reality headset.

Apple Vision Pro: Performance

Its design and easy-to-use interface aren’t the only reasons Apple’s Vision Pro works well. As usual, what’s inside matters.

The second-gen Apple M2 processor powers the most recent MacBook Air’s 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. We’ve found this chip to be strong enough for virtual and augmented reality.

However, the M2 supports a new Apple processor, the R1 chip, which seems to manage those 4K panels and sustain a 12-millisecond picture refresh for crisp, buttery imagery.

Industry-leading twin 4K micro-OLED screens with 23 million pixels featured on the Vision Pro. No matter the screen size, the headset gives me clear images.

Apple Vision Pro: Features

Apple’s stereo audio pod headphones sit on rigid white rubber stems that feed into the Vision Pro frame, yet they provide spatial audio as well as in-ear buds. Putting an app on your virtual left will play sounds from there. One time, we carefully pulled a video screen from one side of our area to the other, and the audio tracked precisely from left to center to right. The six-microphone array picks up “Siri” instructions well. We adore calling Siri on the Vision Pro since she’s a little floating glass ball.

The Vision Pro has several outside and interior cameras. The two in the front manage stereoscopic visuals you can view and record in images and videos you’ll replay and weep over.

Wi-Fi 6 (but not Wi-Fi 7, which will be common in a few years) and Bluetooth 5.3 let us connect the Vision Pro to an Xbox controller, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad.

Vision Pro has a virtual keyboard you can poke in space. Although it may be enlarged and positioned, the absence of physical and tactile input makes it difficult to utilize. Unfortunately, its gaze control technology can’t assist you type accurately if you’re not staring at the keyboard. We like the Magic Keyboard Apple supplied us to type in visionOS while wearing the headset.

We tested a $3,899.1TB Vision Pro from Apple. The $3,499 basic model has 256GB of storage. While Apple calls the Vision Pro the first “spatial computer,” we wonder why it didn’t come with a half-terabyte of storage.

Apple Vision Pro: Built-in Apps

Apple Vision Pro has several built-in applications for a complete experience. These applications make use of Apple’s new device compatibilities to improve user experience. Some built-in apps:

  • App Store
  • Encounter Dinosaurs
  • Files
  • Freeform
  • Keynote
  • Mail
  • Messages
  • Mindfulness
  • Music
  • Notes
  • Photos
  • Safari
  • Settings
  • Tips
  • Apple TV
  • Books
  • Calendar
  • Home
  • Maps
  • News
  • Podcasts
  • Reminders
  • Shortcuts
  • Stocks
  • Voice Memos

These built-in apps allow users to easily explore numerous features and functionality while app developers continue to create more, with Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube declaring they won’t pursue Apple Vision Pro.

Apple Vision Pro: Battery Life

An external battery powers Apple Vision Pro for hours 2 and all-day usage when plugged in. This lets you use the gadget for long durations without worrying about battery life.

Speakers near your ears provide rich Spatial Audio and keep you aware of your surroundings. This feature makes videos and games more immersive by putting you in the action.

Apple said at WWDC ’23 that the Vision Pro AR/VR headset may last two hours when hooked into the external power pack. After updating the Vision Pro landing page, Apple now claims the headset can provide “up to 2.5 hours of video playback.”

Apple Vision Pro Review: Eyesight and Persona

Apple has created many solutions to keep Vision Pro users connected.

EyeSight lets people see a digital replica of your eyes when they attempt to engage you while wearing Vision Pro. When people enter the room while you’re viewing the video, they may notice a shimmer of light on the front display, but when they move closer and start talking, they’ll see your eyes. The effect is subtle and weird, yet effective. However, removing the headset is still necessary.

Persona, in beta, is more challenging since it seems metaverse-y and un-Apple. After making FaceTime chats with it, we developed a little liking.

Persona is a 3D avatar created by scanning your face with the Vision Pro’s front cameras. Steps involve keeping the headset in front of you, rotating your face side to side and up and down, smiling, lifting your eyebrows, and shutting your eyes.

From there, the Vision Pro develops your Persona in about a minute, which is great technically but also Uncanny Valley and evokes Madden or NBA 2K. It resembles us but not really.

You can always regain your Persona if you don’t like your appearance. Your Persona may be customized by modifying skin color, brightness, and Portrait-like effects. The contour is very flattering.

Digital glasses can adorn your Persona, but that’s all. Jewelry, clothing, etc. cannot be added.

Apple is updating the Persona’s appearance in visionOS 1.1, so you should look more like yourself.

Collaboration is enhanced by sharing your Vision Pro view and applications in a video conference. Apple deserves credit for that.

Apple Vision Pro: What’s in the Box?

As a rule, we buy our accessories for new Apple devices. Exceptions include Apple Watches with bands and charging cables in the package and iPhones with charging cables alone. Apple revealed what’s in the box with the Vision Pro, however we anticipate more first-party accessories.

Apple Vision Pro supports Solo Knit and Dual Loop Band adjustments. What’s included: Light Seal, two Light Seal Cushions, Apple Vision Pro front cover, Cleaning Cloth, Battery, USB-C Charge Cable, and Power Adapter.

Apple’s future accessories are unknown. We don’t expect much from Incase or Belkin, although third-party accessories may arrive.

Apple Vision Pro: Pricing and Availability

What Vision Pro developers can build is limitless. Xcode, SwiftUI, RealityKit, ARKit, Unity, and the new 3D-content preparation program Reality Composer Pro provide developers with everything they need to create extraordinary spatial experiences.

Apple said during the WWDC 2023 Keynote that their first VR/AR headset would cost $3,499.

The Vision Pro headset’s release date has been announced by Apple, ending your wait. Pre-orders for the Vision Pro begin Friday, January 19 at 5 a.m. PT, 8 a.m. ET. Apple will distribute your headset on February 2, so you’ll have to wait.

At launch, this won’t be accessible at multiple retailers like prior Apple products. Instead, you can only buy a Vision Pro online or in-store at the Apple Store.
